Popular Facial Plastic Surgery

facial plastic surgeryThe American Society of Plastic Surgeons publishes an annual report on the various trends reported by cosmetic surgeons. Behind breast augmentation and the ever-popular rhinoplasty (nose job), there are two procedures that consistently gain ground – eyelid surgery and facelifts.

According to Australia’s Herald Sun website, there are many reasons why people turn to plastic surgery. Sometimes, it’s to correct the after effects of an accident that has left scarring or deformities, but most of the time it’s for cosmetic reasons that stem from the patient’s own self-image.

People want to look good; it gives them confidence to know that they are looking their best, and sometimes even faces that seem perfect need a bit of help.

The Herald Sun points to stars like Madonna and even the perennially fresh-faced Kylie Minogue as examples of cases where looks that many people would gladly settle for have been surgically enhanced. For many, though, it’s enough to have subtle changes performed, and one of these ‘just-enough’ procedures is the blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery).

What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is a procedure that’s designed to correct tired-looking eyes. It can remove the puffiness that people associate with perpetual tiredness, and return a youthful appearance to the eyelids, both upper and lower. The eyes are important, as they are usually the first place that we look to to gauge a person’s emotions. Having sharp, fresh-looking eyes gives an impression of alertness and intelligence that adds confidence to one’s demeanor.

Combining the eyelid surgery (or eyelid lift) with other procedures that improve skin tone, complexion, and vitality, can make the patient look several years younger. Results are generally achieved reasonably quickly, although there is a certain amount of downtime associated with any surgical procedure.

At the other end of the scale, the full facelift is a complex procedure. In essence, having consulted extensively with the patient and shown them mock-up images of the probable results, the surgeon will proceed to make some very subtle incisions that are designed to be invisible or hidden once the scars heal, and then elevate sagging skin. Underneath, he will skillfully remove excess tissue, tighten up muscles, re-drape the skin and close the incisions.

It takes a skilled surgeon to achieve results that are in keeping with the patient’s underlying bone structure for a natural, long-lasting result. At the Naderi Center, Dr. Naderi and Dr. Kulak specialize in procedures that can help turn back the clock and restore a healthy, youthful complexion.

So, it’s not just about the surgery but about the meticulous care, attention to detail, and post-procedure support that help patients to make the most of their investment in themselves.

That care extends over the ten days that it will take to recover, into the six-month period that will see the scars heal and swelling disappear, and into the life beyond, with tips and products to help maintain your skin and keep it healthy.
