Plenty of people have been told at some point or another that they look like a famous person. Some people have decided to act on those comments and actually undergo plastic surgery in an attempt to look more like their favorite celebrity. While some procedures can be performed to mimic the looks of some celebrities, such as lip augmentation to make a person’s mouth more closely resemble Angelina Jolie’s or fat injections to enhance the cheek area, patients should be aware that plastic surgery won’t necessarily make them look like their favorite actor.
Jennifer Lawrence Wannabe
According to a recent Nightline story, a young woman in Texas heard that she looked like Jennifer Lawrence often enough that she decided to undergo a number of surgical procedures to make her actually look like Lawrence, the actress known for playing Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games series and for regularly tripping at the Oscars.
The woman, a 30-year-old known as Kitty, decided to have six procedures performed to make herself look even more like the actress. She underwent liposuction, a breast augmentation, rhinoplasty and fat transfer to her cheeks and buttocks.
Motivations for Surgery
While Kitty might have been inspired to undergo the surgery in an attempt to more closely resemble Lawrence, that wasn’t her only reason. She also stated that she decided on surgery in an attempt to get her body back after giving birth. Kitty has a five-year-old daughter. She noted that she didn’t feel quite as confident in her body after pregnancy, and the surgery restored some of that confidence.
Another woman, 43-year-old Rosie, also recently decided to have surgery to make herself look more like the actress Michelle Rodriguez, known for her work on Lost and in The Fast and the Furious film series. Like Kitty, Rosie had been told by others that she resembled Rodriguez.
Also like Rodriguez, resembling a celebrity wasn’t Rosie’s only reason for deciding to get the surgery. Rosie described herself as having a “harsh face” to ABC News. She stated that she looked upset if she wasn’t permanently smiling. The procedure she received, fat transfer, gave her face a softer look.
Results
Fat grafts or fat injections are commonly used in patients under the age of 65 to give the face a more youthful and refreshed appearance. In the case of both Rosie and Kitty, the fat came from their own bodies. Rosie received fat grafts under her nose, in her cheeks and in the eye area.
The big question remains: did she look more like Rodriguez after the surgery? Rosie doesn’t think so. She actually thinks she looks less like the actress, but is still satisfied with the results. Her face looks considerably less harsh, she thinks, and she is happy.
Kitty is also happy with her results and believes that she looks more like J-Law now than before
Is It Worth It?
While some people might question the idea of spending $25,000 on surgery to look like your favorite actress, as Kitty did, the results seem to prove the surgeries were well worth it for her. The same is true for Rosie, who spent $8,000 on her fat transfer surgery. For both women, the goal of surgery wasn’t so much to look like someone else, but to feel better about their bodies and appearance.
