It’s likely that as the years have gone by, the items on your holiday wish list have changed. While a new toy or game might have been your must-have item as a child, as an adult, you’ve probably got bigger things in mind. While it might be too late to schedule non-surgical treatments in time for the holiday season, it’s not too late to ask Santa for a treatment that will help you reach your aesthetic goals.

Whether you want fuller lips, a more youthful face, or a new nose, consider adding these non-surgical treatments to your holiday list.

Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty

If you aren’t happy with the way your nose looks and you don’t have the time to commit to surgery, a non-surgical rhinoplasty might be the perfect option for you this holiday season. Non-surgical rhinoplasty uses dermal fillers to make small changes to the size and shape of the nose. With non-surgical rhinoplasty, a surgeon can fill in a dent in the nose, make a small nose look bigger, or correct crookedness.

Compared to traditional rhinoplasty surgery, the non-surgical nose job has a few benefits. For one thing, it’s not surgery. You aren’t stuck with a lengthy recovery period, nor do you have to wait weeks to see the results. Usually, the results from a non-surgical rhinoplasty are visible right away.

Non-surgical rhinoplasty isn’t the right option for everyone who’s looking to change something about their nose, though. It can’t usually make a large nose smaller, for example. If you’re interested in learning more about what’s involved in a non-surgical rhinoplasty and whether the procedure is right for you, your plastic surgeon can help you learn more.

Lip Augmentation

Want fuller, more youthful looking lips in time for the new year? Then you might want to add lip augmentation with fillers, to your list. Lip fillers have been a popular non-surgical treatment for a few years now, thanks in large part to celebrities who have popularized them. The trend doesn’t seem to be letting up.

Like non-surgical rhinoplasty, lip augmentation with injectable fillers provides results that are visible right away. Usually, results last for anywhere to a few months to up to one year after treatment. If you decide (like Kylie Jenner) that you’re “over” your lip fillers before they wear off, you do have the option of dissolving the filler and going back to your original look.

Facial Fillers

The holidays can often be a reminder that time is ticking by. You might glance in the mirror as you get ready for a party or other event and notice that a line that wasn’t there a few weeks ago is suddenly commanding all of your attention. Fortunately, injectable facial fillers can minimize the appearance of a wide variety of lines and wrinkles on the face. Some fillers can also help to restore lost volume in the cheek area, giving you a fuller, more youthful look.

How long fillers last and what happens after they disappear depends on the main ingredients in each one. Usually, the thinner the filler, the shorter the results last. For example, Belotero is a hyaluronic acid filler that’s thinner than most others. It’s meant for use in filling very delicate lines and wrinkles, such as those around the mouth or near the eyes. Juvederm Voluma, on the other hand, is a thick, viscous filler also made from hyaluronic acid. It adds volume to the cheek area and often provides results that last for as long as two years.

Depending on your goals, one filler might be appropriate for you. For other patients, a combination of fillers targeting different areas may be beneficial. Your surgeon can help you choose the best fillers to add to your wish list.

Botox and Dysport

Like facial fillers, Botox and Dysport injections help to reduce the signs of wrinkles and lines. But they work on different wrinkles than fillers do. While fillers will “fill in” lines, Botox and Dysport work on lines that have developed as a result of repeated muscle movements over time. They are best suited for crow’s feet, frown lines and forehead lines.

Although fillers usually provide instant results, it can take a few days before the results of a Botox or Dysport injection are visible (Dysport tends to act more quickly). Both injections typically last for around three months. At that point, you can repeat the treatment if you want to maintain your results.

Which of the above non-surgical treatments is worth adding to your holiday wish list? Dr. Shervin Naderi offers a selection of dermal fillers and injectables, as well as non-surgical rhinoplasty and lip augmentation, at his practice in Virginia.
