Non Surgical Options to Enhance Your BeautyCosmetic plastic surgery can be an intimidating concept for individuals looking to change or enhance their appearance. But if surgery sounds a bit scary, the good news is that there are many options available to patients that do not require invasive surgical procedures. In fact, non-surgical options are becoming more appealing and more popular because they are fast, easy, and often fairly inexpensive. In comparison, surgical procedures often require a lengthy recovery process. Better yet, non-surgical procedures can often be completed within a sixty-minute office visit. This is very appealing for those of us with busy lifestyles.

An added benefit of many non-surgical procedures, like injectables for instance, is that they can be repeated or stopped depending on whether a patient wants to maintain the look or not.  This may also allow patients to see the benefits of certain surgical procedures before committing to surgery. Dr. Naderi and his staff offer many non-surgical options to enhance your appearance, including lip fillers and facial injections like Juvederm, Restylane, and Botox. These little injections can make a big impact on how you look and feel.

Lip Fillers

Many patients want to change their lips, whether they were born with thin lips or have lips that have thinned with age.  Lip enhancement can be achieved with both surgical and non-surgical methods. The non-surgical option for a lip enhancement requires the use of lip injections or fillers, whereas surgical solutions may involve implants or grafts. Lip injections can add fullness to the lips, improve the lip contour, and even erase wrinkles around the mouth.  Enhancing the lips can also  help to balance out the facial features for improved facial harmony.

Lip injections are performed in an office setting. The appointment will take one hour and the patient will receive a topical cream to numb the area. The lip filler will most likely contain an additional numbing additive that can allow the patient some comfort. The lip filler will be made of a synthetic or natural material that plumps the lip. The injection results will not be permanent, but can last for a few months depending on the brand of the filler used. Juvederm, Restylane, and Belotero are great filler injection options. They can add volume to the lips, define the lips, make the corners of the mouth appear more upward, and makes more of the red area of the lip show. Once the injection has been completed, the patient can immediately resume normal activities.

Juvederm

Juvederm is a gel filler that provides long-lasting improvement and can be injected into many areas of the face. Juvederm can improve the smile lines located around the mouth, as well as other small lines around the lips. It can help to plump areas of the skin for a smoother, more youthful appearance. Juvderm is made from hyaluronic acid which is a natural product in our bodies. It is found in the skin and connective tissue where it helps to hydrate, cushion and plump the skin.

The injection is placed in the middle to deep dermal layer of the skin. The gel filler then falls into place with the connective tissue, blood vessels, and glands that make our dermis layer. Juvederm is absorbed by the body which allows it to fill and smooth the skin in a natural way. The filler allows contour to be added and lines and wrinkles to be removed. There are various formulas of Juvederm that can be used for different areas of the face in a safe and effective way. The different forms are used for moderate forehead wrinkles, fine lines near the eyes, lines in the cheek and nose area, and the lips. Once Juvederm has been injected, the area may be slightly red or tender. Bruising may also occur. These side effects generally clear up quickly and normal activities can be resumed right after treatment.

Restylane

Restylane is a natural filler that is a safe and easy to use. This filler is typically utilized to enhance the lips, reduce crow’s feet, and remove wrinkles in the forehead and nasolabial folds. Restylane can last for six to nine months, but this can vary depending on where it was injected. The injection site will be treated with a topical anesthetic prior to injection. A very small needle will be utilized which will allow the material to penetrate below the skin. Restylane is also comprised of hyaluronic acid. It enables the water molecules to bind with the material and create volume. There is a chance that the injection site could become red, swollen, tender, or bruised, but normal activities can be resumed immediately after the injection.

Botox

Botox is a neuromodulator. Rather than restoring volume like Juvederm and Restylane, Botox temporarily paralyzes the muscles responsible for certain dynamic wrinkles like frown lines and crow’s feet. Dynamic wrinkles are those which develop when the muscle is contracted. Botox is injected into the muscles of the face which allows them to become weak and relaxed. Botox can also eliminate an arching eyebrow and lip wrinkles, reduce the masseter jaw muscle, and prevent a gummy smile from occurring. After Botox has been injected, the results will take two or three days to appear. For a final and full effect of the results, the patient may need to wait two weeks. Since Botox offers temporary results, it will need to be reinjected in order to maintain the effect. The nerve endings in the face regenerate every four months.

Enhancing your beauty can be achieved without undergoing surgical procedures. Utilizing lip fillers and facial injections to remove wrinkles can take years off your appearance.
