What Are Injectables?
Injectables are one of the newest and probably one of the most exciting new fads in the cosmetic surgery industry. There are so many different types of injectables and so many different ways in which they can enhance your image that it’s no wonder they’ve become so popular. Not only do they smooth out wrinkles, reduce scars, plump the lips and cheeks, but they can also be used as a non-surgical facelift. Dr. Naderi will choose the best injectable based on the patient’s goals and desires for the procedure. He will create a specialized treatment plan for each patient depending on their medical history, goals for the procedure, realistic outcomes, and how long they would like the treatment results to last. All of these options can be discussed during the consultation appointment to decide whether injectables or another option like surgery is the right treatment path for you.
Are Injectables Better Than Surgery?
Many people opt for injectables because they are less invasive than surgery. That does not necessarily mean surgery is a bad thing. Even though injectables are the most common cosmetic procedures done today, there are still a large majority of people who would prefer surgery for certain goals they may have to enhance their appearance. When people are weighing the options on whether or not they would like to have an injectable treatment or surgical procedure done, they typically look at the longevity of the procedure and the cost. Surgical procedures have a tendency to produce longer lasting results. The less invasive injectable route typically lasts for 6-9 months, maybe even a year, but that is all dependent on the type of injectable and what procedure is done. Once the treatment wears off, another appointment will be made for another injectable session.
Cost is another factor people may consider in the overall decision. Injectables are much less expensive than surgical procedures, but they may not have all of the benefits that surgical procedures have. The consultation appointment with Dr. Naderi is a good time to weigh your options with injectables and surgery. Both are capable of creating a more youthful, refreshed appearance.
The downtime after the procedure is another big factor many people consider. Surgery may result in a lengthy recovery, anywhere from three weeks to a few months or longer, depending on the procedure. Many people cannot afford the lengthy downtime after an invasive procedure and, in these cases, injectables can offer an excellent alternative to help them achieve their appearance goals with little to no downtime. After most injectable treatments, patients can typically return to work a day or two afterward, along with resuming every day routines.
What Are Some of the Injectables Available For Me?
Some of the more popular injectables available to patients that visit Dr. Naderi’s officer are Kybella, Botox, and Juvederm. Kybella is one of the first injectables approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to permanently remove fatty tissue cells from under the chin. Kybella is injected directly into the targeted area. As the body dissolves the cells, a sculpted newer chin evolves.
Botox is a very popular injectable that is known all over the country. Botox is used to reduce the look of dynamic wrinkles like frown lines and crow’s feet by relaxing or reducing the use of muscles in the face. Reducing the muscle action associated with certain expressions will prevent any future wrinkles and fine lines from forming and will also reduce the current wrinkles from becoming more prominent. Botox can also elevate the eyebrows to give them more of an arch.
Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid gel injectable filler that is often used around the lips, including smile lines and vertical lip lines. This injectable provides a smoother, more natural outcome considering it is composed of a natural product that is already found within our tissue. Eventually the body absorbs this compound and another treatment will need to be done to continue the desired appearance the patient wants.
