Celebs Weigh In on Plastic Surgery

Celebs and Plastic SurgeryThere’s been a lot of discussion about changing attitudes towards plastic surgery of late. As cosmetic procedures, particularly non-surgical ones that reduce the signs of aging, become more common, people are in turn becoming more and more accepting of having work done to reduce wrinkles, sagging and other signs of aging. Still, the debate about the pros and cons of surgery and other treatments rages on. Let’s take a look at what several well-known celebrities have to say on the subject.

The Kardashian-Jenner Family

It’s probably  not much of a surprise that the Kardashian-Jenner sisters aren’t against a bit of plastic surgery to enhance their appearance. Kylie Jenner, who has admitted to lip augmentation with fillers, released a statement on her official app that read "as of now, I only have lip fillers…But I’m also someone who says ‘never say never.’ If, down the line, I get to a point where I’m really uncomfortable with something on my body, I’m not against changing it."

Her half-sisters take a similar stance. Kim Kardashian has stated that she’s not "totally against plastic surgery," and that she’s tried Botox before. She did admit that she thought about a nose job, but changed her mind after seeing the computer imaging results of what she’d look like after the surgery. During the same interview, her sister Kourtney stated that she’d had breast implants, and that she couldn’t care less about what people thought.

Betty White

It might surprise some, but Betty White, the 93-year-old former "Golden Girl" (whose acting career is still going strong), admitted to having eyelid surgery back in 1976. Although she felt a bit of guilt at the time, and stated that "it’s not nice to fool Mother Nature," decades later, she says she is glad to  have had the surgery.

Gwyneth Paltrow

You might think Gwyneth Paltrow, the founder of "Goop" and an actor known for promoting healthy and natural, if occasionally strange, lifestyle choices, would focus on eating lots of kale and green juice to keep herself looking youthful. But, it turns out that she’s a lot more flexible when it comes to cosmetic treatments, stating that she gets laser skin treatments. While she hasn’t yet had surgery (but has admitted to a bit of Botox), she won’t rule it out. "Talk to me when I’m 50," she said in a 2013 interview.

Sofia Vergara

Another actor who won’t rule out plastic surgery at this point in time is Sofia Vergara, best known for her role in the TV show "Modern Family." In a 2014 interview, she told "Redbook"  that she hadn’t done anything yet, "but maybe [I’ll do] my under-eye bags in my 50s."

Naomi Campbell

Another popular stance about plastic surgery is the "live and let live" opinion, expressed by the likes of model Naomi Campbell. Back in 2012, she told "Harper’s Bazaar" that she thinks surgery and other cosmetic treatments are fine "for those who do it for themselves and not to please someone else."

Julianne Moore

Actor Julianne Moore has a similar point of view. She told "The Edit" in 2013 that "I don’t want to come out condemning anything anybody does, because I think that all of these things can contribute to making people feel better about themselves, and that’s great." But, she also noted that she’d like to age as naturally as she can and doesn’t want to do anything that would make her not look like herself.

Iggy Azalea

Australian born rapper Iggy Azalea has admitted to having a few different procedures. Speaking about her rhinoplasty to "Seventeen," she said that "denying it is lame" and that it’s "no easy feat to live with your flaws and accept yourself — and it’s no easy feat to change yourself. Either way you look at it, it’s a tough journey."

Nicole Kidman

Some celebrities, such as actor Nicole Kidman, gave cosmetic treatments a try, then decided they weren’t the thing for them. Describing her experience with Botox, Kidman stated "I did try [it], unfortunately, but I got out of it and now I can finally move my face again."

Although you might look to the famous for their advice and opinions about facial plastic surgery and minimally invasive treatments, when it comes down to it, how you approach any type of treatment or whether you decide to have something done or not is up to you and your facial plastic surgeon.
